I don't know much about RedHat. I suspect the problem is caused by the default umask used in the default SuSe ftp setup which assumes that if you want everyone to be able to read your uploads you wil change the permissions accordingly. Some ftp clients allow you to set the permissions using the umask option. For those that don't I solved this by changing the command line for ftp in inetd.conf to include the -u parameter. I can't remember the exact details now at home, but I will check tomorrow. HTH Giles Nunn Carms ISP Officer On Sun, 20 Oct 2002, Colin McQueen wrote:
Hi
I have changed our Intranet Web Server from RedHat to SUSE 6.4 Using DreamWeaver to update the site I had no problem with the RedHat system but now with SUSE I have to chmod +or new files after I have uploaded them for them to be visible.
Can someone point me in the right direction. I'm probably being really thick but cannot get it working as on the redhat system. The upfgrading is done via LAN connection and nothing has changed at the Laptop/Dreamweaver end.
TIA
