I work for a school in London, and we have a pile of Pentium 200 machines, with 32MB and 2Gb disks gathering dust in the corner. These machines will not perform at all well as fat clients - unless you don't want to run a desktop. However they are ideal candidates for LTSP thin clients (www.ltsp.org). Depending on the size of the pile, you may need a beefy server to drive them though.
I also have the use of a 300MHz server 256MB 10Gb.
This will run out of steam with a very small number of thin clients attached. Cheers -- Phil Driscoll
