Squid 2

I had a similar struggle with squid2. I looked up the squid site and had a good look over the stuff there. They had some examples of .conf files. It's tricky to say exactly what the problem is, but a couple of hours spent editting their most basic example should pay off. Make sure the security is lax at first (they've got some examples of this), then tighten it up as you need to.
