Greetings to you all, hope you are all well as this mailing list has gone deathly quiet! I shall soon wake it up though with my next question. Its probably more a Samba mail list Q, but its the version Suse 8.0 came with ;) Basically i have an almost running samba/cups setup in an RM 2.4 network, which has all the schools printers shared and so forth. I've generated the printer definition files for samba, places the wanted files in a linux folder and given it the print$ share. What i want it to do is for the workstation to logon and hookup with the printer and get all the files it needs without user interaction. Now as i said earlier it has all the files it needs on the samba share - i even shipped over every single file from what NT shares for giving out these printer drivers and so forth, *BUT* no matter what i do, once i've assigned a printer connection it always goes to the PDC 'server1' share to get its files, at which point it gives an 'access denied' in the details for the first file it attempts to shift off the NT server. Looking at the permissions on the nt box for the driver folder its setup for administrator and 'setup user'. I guess i could add 'all users' with read only access to the share but would this be rather risky? NT doesn't slap anything threatening to security in there do they? It is currently running Print Services on both servers that share out the printers - would disabling this cause it to go to the samba share? I *am* using the 'obselete' driver-location type commands to set this up - i had a snip at the current method and it just boggled me mind. Any suggestions are welcome! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
