... harness all the idle cycles on the under-used new gigahertz, now entry level, machines that occupy corners in the school. Anyone tried this yet? Does this idea make sense? It should be practical, I would have thought.
One problem is that most gigahertz machines should be fixed so as to slow down when idle, and in doing so use much less power. Their spare cycles are not spare - if you use them, they'll consume more watts and the Fens will be flooded.
