Dear Users, dear Board, dear mailing list admins As announced on https://news.opensuse.org/2018/01/27/the-future-of-opensuse-education/ the openSUSE-Education project hereby requests to officially stop the openSUSE-Education project. We could of course leave everything as it is right now and call it good enough - even if there is no volunteer/team member left. But we don’t think that would be fair to our users who are expecting a well thought through environment for educational activities where all details have been taken care of and maintenance and support in any form are available for them. So it's time to officially say "good bye" and also inform our former users officially that there will be no support or new medias any longer. The portal page in the wiki[1] is already kind of updated, the former separated homepage (and domain) is free to use. The mailing list opensuse-edu@opensuse.org still has 295 subscribers [2], but (beside a self-introduction of one new subscriber in 2018) has not seen any post since 2015. So we like to request the "deletion" of the mailing list as well (archives might be kept for some time - leaving this up to the ml-admins). We also provided some kind of support in the past via the openSUSE Forums, resp. a special "OBS-Education Project" Sub-Forum [3]. Here it is unclear if the forum admins should set this sub-forum to read-only mode, add a top-header informing everbody that this forum is obsolete or simply delete it. Something we like to leave up to you as board and the forum admins. For those who are interested to take over, we left some backups available: * Webpage => https://github.com/openSUSE-Education * KIWI-LTSP => https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:KIWI-LTSP * Education-Li-f-e => https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Education-Li-f-e * Development scripts/tools => https://sourceforge.net/projects/opensuse-edu/ * Former ISO images and repositories are stored on community.opensuse.org With this, the team wants to thank everyone who helped and supported the openSUSE-Education project in the past years with their love, their passion and their endless time contributed to support schools and young users.
