[opensuse-doc] KDE Booklet
Hi list-mates, Some people at KDE (upstream) are almost done writing the official KDE Booklet. I have asked one of the authors what format they are using and he replied InDesign. Well, how could .po files be generated for an easier translation? I have never used InDesign. He also asked for alternatives. Luiz (elchevive) told me that Thomas (toms) recommended him http://www.syntext.com/products/serna-free/ (a free xml editor) a long time ago. Thanks, -- Javier Llorente

Do you have a link?

From InDesign or generally? This is usually a topic were Karl is the better expert. From what I know, it's usually done with gettext utilities.
I have never used InDesign.
Mee too.

I'm not familiar with InDesign. To convert .xml to .po (what we do with the openSUSE Release Notes), we use xml2po, which seems to be a stand-alone package; it was part of gnome-doc-tooos, IIRC. -- Karl Eichwalder R&D / Documentation SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-doc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-doc+help@opensuse.org
Hi, Just for information: There is 2 similar packages which can convert xml to po, the one mentioned by Karl, and another called xml2pot which resides in kde4-l10n-devel There is also some converters for po format in package translate-toolkit (http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/index#converters) but noone which can convert directly InDesign to .po http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/index#converters Maybe the file Javier is talking about is http://community.kde.org/File:Kde_booklet.pdf but I'm not sure. That's right. I think that isn't the latest version though. @Thomas: btw, maybe the doc team could collaborate with the KDE Booklet people ;-) Thanks for your responses, Thomas, Karl and Luiz! Greetings, -- Javier Llorente
