[opensuse-doc] openSUSE 11.4 manuals ready for translation / 11.4 changes
Hi, the English openSUSE 11.4 manuals have been finished and are now ready for translation. The XML sources are available from https://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/opensuse-doc/trunk/documents/distributi... ### Tagging #### In case you would like to make a tag in SVN of your current translations (which probably is 11.3), there is a script in the susedoc package, that helps. In order to be able to build books when checking out the tag, you should tag the complete set (includig books that have npot been translated) Below is an example (replace any occurences of <UPPERCASE> with 1. cd into directory you want to tag 2. Run /usr/share/susedoc/bin/trunkcopy.sh -o <PATH TO WORKIN COPY>/opensuse-doc/trunk/documents/distribution \ -t tags/documents/openSUSE11.3 \ --svnroot "https://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/opensuse-doc" \ --osuffix "<YOUR LANGUAGE E.G. de>" \ --nonovdoc \ <LIST OF ENV FILES> #### 11.4 Changes ###### Start-Up: --------- For 11.4 we completely revamped that Start-Up guide. It now consists of 5 chapters derived from the former quickstarts: * Installation * KDE * GNOME * LibreOffice * Help & Troubleshooting The first 3 chapters have been shipped as separate Quickstart with former openSUSE versions (filenames are the same as before). The LibreOffoce part is new, the Help & Troubleshooting remains in the Start-Up. Reference: ---------- Most of the stuff that has been in previous Start-Up versions has been moved/merged into the Reference Guide. Files having been added from old Start-Up: * xml/inst_yast2.xml * xml/yast2_hw.xml * xml/yast2_sound.xml * xml/yast2_scanner.xml * xml/newbie_bash.xml * xml/newbie_perm_i.xml * xml/newbie_bash_commands_i.xml * xml/nm.xml * xml/nm_kde.xml * xml/nm_gnome.xml New Guides ---------- Two new guides have been added: * System Ananlysis & Tuning Guide (problem detection, resolution and optimization) * Virtualization with KVM (kvm, libvirt, qemu-kvm) Deleted Guides -------------- * KDE User Guide * GNOME User Guide * Application Guide Very good and up-to-date documentation for these topics is available upstream: KDE: http://userbase.kde.org/ GNOME: http://library.gnome.org/ Therefore we decided to replace these three guides with manuals coverings more complex and less well documented topics (KVM and Tunung, see above). -- Regards Frank Frank Sundermeyer, Technical Writer, Documentation SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg Tel: +49-911-74053-0, Fax: +49-911-7417755; http://www.opensuse.org/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) "Reality is always controlled by the people who are most insane" Dogbert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-doc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-doc+help@opensuse.org
