SUSE's Hack Week, and adding new GNU/linux distributions as Uyuni clients
Hello everyone, Today the 20th Hack Week starts at SUSE: https://hackweek.suse.com/ That means that for five days, SUSE employees can work on or learn anything they want. One of my projects for this Hack Week is an extension of my work last year, adding new GNU/Linux distributions as Uyuni Clients: https://hackweek.suse.com/20/projects/testing-gnu-slash-linux-distributions-... Last year Nicola Di Marzo and I added support for Debian, Oracle and Astra Linux (still pending builds at OBS), and laid the foundations for adding Amazon Linux 2. This year my plan is complete the Amazon Linux support, and add Alma Linux, and depending on time maybe some others. But I am also available to help everyone else in the community willing to collaborate. Adding a new distribution can be easy if it's RPM or Deb based https://github.com/uyuni-project/uyuni/pull/1917 https://github.com/uyuni-project/uyuni/pull/1915 (Needless to say some exceptions can apply, for example Fedora, that ships a newer salt version and would require way more work) Besides my project, there are some others for Uyuni: https://hackweek.suse.com/20/topics/uyuni So if you want to join as and have some fun, we'll be meeting at Gitter: https://gitter.im/uyuni-project/hackweek Happy Hacking!
