Getting updated monitoring packages into OBS Uyuni Master

Hello Team, I am trying get these two (and other) packages into Uyuni Master: - golang-github-lusitaniae-apache_exporter (https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/963552) - prometheus-postgres_exporter (https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/963553) The changes have been submitted and accepted to "server:monitoring" first. Now I am trying to get these changes from "server:monitoring" as a central source into "Uyuni:Master". My requests keep getting denied as the changes in "server:monitoring" don't seem to match up to the "Uyuni:Master". It seems that the packages from "Uyuni:Master" evolved away from "server:monitoring" (as far as I understand). This seems to be a deadlock. Changes directly to "Uyuni:Master" are not accepted as "server:monitoring" should be used. Changes from "server:monitoring" are not accepted as "Uyuni:Master" diverged. Can you please let me know on how to best proceed? My attempt on trying to get this resolved via the OBS request itself failed due to my lack of English. Thank you and best wishes, Stefan

We are happy to announce the immediate availability of Uyuni 2021.02 At https://www.uyuni-project.org/pages/stable-version.html you will find all the resources you need to start working with Uyuni 2022.02, including the release notes, documentation, requirements and setup instructions. VERY IMPORTANT: Read the release notes! If you are updating from an Uyuni version older than 2021.06, a major upgrade procedure is required. This is the list of highlights for this release: * Reporting Database * Ubuntu errata installation * Monitoring: Prometheus 2.32.1 * Monitoring: Postgres exporter updated to version 0.10.0 for SUSE Linux Enterprise and openSUSE * SLES PAYG client support on cloud * openscap for Debian 11 (Tech Preview) Please check the release notes for full details, and in particular review the section about the Postgres exporter update and the Prometheus update, as it could require manual if you are using monitoring. Tomcat rhn context not starting

Hello Java Team, can you please help me out on getting Uyuni started again? As of Friday Master, a clean Uyuni install on AlmaLinux does not work anymore (still works on Leap and apparently on Oracle Linux 8 but with error popups). Symptoms: After mgr-config, going to https://<server> shows the Firefox "SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER" certificate screen. After accepting the new certificate, the page just keeps loading without any further message. My assumptions from the logs is that the Uyuni servlet does not complete loading. Bugfix for Content Lifecycle Managent build failures

Dear Uyuni Community. In order to support the growing number of distributions that use modular repositories, the Content Lifecycle Management feature had some updates that cause stack overflow exceptions that could fail the builds, and showed the stack overflow errors at `rhn_web_ui.log`. A bugfix to offload the work from the Java stack to prevent such overflows is now released. See how to apply the patch at https://uyuni-project.org/pages/patches.html. The fix will be part of Uyuni 2022.02 as well, but we recommend you don't wait and apply the patch as soon as possible, in particular if you are already using Content Lifecycle Management. OS dependent folders in Java

Hello, I started working on removing hard coded file/folder locations to make Uyuni less OS dependent. In the end, thic COULD boil down to these used folders (ignoring folders defined in test cases and giving them a tag for discussion): /srv/www/htdocs (WEBROOT) /srv/www/os-images (OSIMAGES) /srv/susemanager (SUSEMANAGER_DIR) code/src/com/suse/manager/webui/services/SaltConstants.java Where would be the best place to parameterise them? - rhn.conf WEBROOT is already in there. I would think that this would be the best place to put ALL folder locations in there to keep it central. This would need a migration script for existing systems to add the folders. - spec file Doesn't sound like the best idea. - build.xml Not sure how to detect the right OS. So maybe a flag can be passed on to use SUSE or RHEL file structure. Then we copy the relevant config file to the build folder. - java class This would be double maintenance and just increasing the amount of hard coding. I would see two approaches: 1. Add all folders (starting with the ones above as common denominator) into rhn.conf. Put an update logic into the SPEC file for existing systems. Adapt the existing Java classes and constant files (i.e. SaltConstants.java) to read the value from rhn.conf. 2. Adapt Java classes to use a central OS dependent constant file (like SaltConstants.java). Get build.xml to use the right one during build. Control the ant build via the spec file (as I am not sure we can detect the OS reliably/easily with ant). Would be great to hear your thoughs. Best wishes, Stefan

Java package logic location

Hello Java Team, can you please give me a jump start on the Java code? I can't figure it out. Where are the packages/the number calculated and populated at /rhn/systems/SystemList.do. I found "rhn/frontend/dto/SystemOverview.java" and "BaseDto" but they contain no loading logic. "setOutdatedPackages" from SystemOverview.java is not being used anywhere. I want to have a look if/how it is feasible to (conditionally?) filter out modular packages to make the overview look nicer. Thank you and best wishes, Stefan

Hello, I would like to modify the file "/susemanager/src/mgr_bootstrap_data.py". Unfortunately it gives an un-welcoming message to viewers: # # DO NOT EDIT !!! # How would I go about changing it? It contains references to "/srv/www/htdocs/" which I would like to update to either the token "documentroot" from "/usr/share/rhn/config-defaults/rhn.conf" (hardcode it differently for Enterprise Linux systems). Adapting Uyuni-Server-release

Hello, last package that I need adapting for Enterprise Linux is "Uyuni-Server-release.rpm". Can you tell me how to go about that one? Uyuni-Server-release.spec has the placeholder(?) ___PRODUCT_DEPENDENCIES___ How is that one filled (and with what)? Also there is _service:product_converter:Uyuni-Server-release.spec . Seeking advice: Good first Issue with focus on the Java Codebase?

Hey, I'm struggling finding a "good first issue" mainly related to the java codebase. Even though my "main" language is Python, I want to improve my Java Skills and thought the best way is hands on experience by contributing something to Uyuni. Was looking through all GH Issues, so far the following seem promising from a "good-first-issue" point of view BUT as you can see, they are all more related to Python or Web UI: spacecmd: - Feature Request: Implement spacecmd commands for managing Content Lifecycle Projects and Environments #1264 [1] - Add possibility to automate initial organization/user creation #296 [2] - Feature Request: Implement API calls and spacecmd commands for Organization Credentials #1257 [3] Web UI: - spacewalk-remove-channel: let it be triggered from the webUI as well #1427 [4] - Missing translation wrappers #3383 [6] reposync: - reposync: error is not clear when a repository mirror is not reachable #2514 [5] So I'm looking for some advice where to start, maybe i just missed a potential candidate? Or should I tackle a Python related one until something new comes up? Some packages for the Server not bing updated during the update to Uyuni 2021.09

Hello, Some users reported that some packages are not being updated on the Server during the update to Uyuni 2021.09. The cause and the workaround is now documented at: https://github.com/uyuni-project/uyuni/issues/4244 The problem is in fact that openSUSE is shipping some SUSE Manager packages, so we filled https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1190851 This announce is now posted at the website, and Twitter, and it will be part of the Release Notes for Uyuni 2021.10 if the problem is still not solved. Hello, spacewalk-backend-sql-postgresql requires python3-psycopg2 >= 2.8.4. I assume there is a reason for the minimum version requirement? Ideally, I would like spacewalk-backend-sql-postgresql to be able to use 2.7.5. Do you have a direction on the possible implications of reducing the version requirements?
