Great, but what would be the right combination to show euro with english language?
Well, I learned that we need to send people to the right link for their country. Thus we probably need a little table with country flags with the appropriate links. I know it's stupid, but that is mostly driven by laws, not by us.
I don't see how this can happen - we need to put the link into both OSEM and the website.
I guess there should be a en_IR for Ireland as they use th euro, but the shop may not be available there and thus there's no locale for it, sorry.
So we are left with USD with page in english and EURO but with page in german, right?
Well, you can do it that way, but it would be incorrect. Sorry, I, nor SUSE makes the laws. Although on the internet we are all connected across borders, when it comes to money countries still have their own rules and the suse shop must respect those.
People from Germany should us de_DE and from the US should use en_US and so forth. Otherwise the money will not be handled correctly.
So on the web site we can create the table with the flags, that should be reasonably straight forward. In OSEM we might want to use a programmatic method based on IP location and redirect people to the right link.
We have 3 options, as I see it.
1.) Do it correctly, i.e. have all the links on the web site with a table and have a re-director in OSEM
This would be my first choice then. If possible, we should have a single link on the conference website and the app (OSEM?) that receives the link should try to redirect to the right store link. We would make a note of this behavior on the website, below the links.
If there is too much work involved to do this (who should/would do this anyway?) , can we get a list of valid country links? We could then find a way to display them on the conference website...
2.) We can try and fudge it and send people from Europe to one of the pages that shows the amount in euros, French, German, Spanish, Italien and send everyone else to the US site
If 1) fails, this seems faster and easier to achieve?
3.) We drop the whole thing and tell people that if they want a professional ticket they can do it on site using cash.
We aren't allowed to sell anything on site, so this isn't possible.
Regards, Svebor
Hello, I don't see the table thing (No 1) happening for oSC14. (It is not very clear to me what's the course of action we need to take either) And just to be clear, this is the first time the whole situation with location and buying tickets is mentioned, right? I don't remember discussing this last year - or is my memory failing me? What about we only offer the USD option (in terms of links)? It's gonna look weird or even ugly since ppl already got the sponsors brochure with EUR prices, but we can get started on accepting donations right away at least. We can put it in the website like this: $250 (€200) And regarding onsite... We are *not* selling anything. Nothing. Nada. I am pretty sure I have said that way too many times this year :/ Are you (Svebor) saying that people cannot make donations during the conference?!? This does seem easier, and we do need to close this... I agree.

No it's fine, donations are allowed.

I really have no strong attachment to how this gets handled, somebody
who cares about the subject needs to make a decision. IMHO having the
nationalization is a nice touch but I am not attached to it,
unfortunately there is no English nationalization for Ireland, the only
English speaking country using the Euro.
So integrating the table into the web site should be relatively easy, I
didn't do it as I have no strong opinion in the matter.

Don't we also need an option 'Other' for the countries not showing in that table?

Thanks Robert for the quick fix! Pull request is sent to include the flags in the website. I would also like to make a note of the following: 1) It seems that the prices are 35 euro or 35 USD (no change on amount) (and the currency exchange rate is also weird for other currencies). 2) I don't always get the correct currency for Denmark, Sweden and GB, instead of their currency I still get the 35 euro. Not sure why that happens. http://paste.opensuse.org/873654 http://paste.opensuse.org/76842278 Stella -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-conference+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-conference+owner@opensuse.org

About OSEM now, just a quick thing, I am thinking of just redirecting people to our website. Since our website will have the table with the flags and corresponding links. People can then choose from there. Sounds good enough?
