Hey,
I worked on a simpler design this time than the other two proposals. I was given some tips and this is what came out. I like that this logo could go well on t-shirts, documents, web banners, etc.
Let's hear what you think about it!

Works for me. I do like that this can serve multiple purposes.

I like those as T-shirt. A tie. Like wear a suit or something ;-) And the back side all letters (motto etc). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-conference+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-conference+owner@opensuse.org
Hi to everyone, I'm new to this list/community/conference so excuse me if i'll make some mistakes. According logo, i would really recommend not to use croatian red-white squares in design. It is mostly used in governmental stuff or in some state owned companies. If you nonetheless want to use it, it is better to use only two red squares (or even only one) - it is common usage, but functioning the best when used for things of state interest. Like logo for "Croatian quality". So, basically this motif is used when you try to emphasize that something is Croatian. Maybe interesting approach would be a Dubrovnik flag, medieval flag, Dubrovnik walls and similar things. And particularly if moto would be "oSC14 the geeko kingdom" like Carlos (I think it was him :) proposed - IMO that would be nice combination. I made a document with some tips, Svebor already put a link here somewhere. :) Hope it's helpfull. :) Cheers! -- Lucijana D. Your suggestions are awesome!!! It really helps learning about another country's national symbols and how they are to be treated. I have taken these into consideration and made a few other proposals. Good thing too, Carlos Ribeiro also made his own set of logo proposals for your viewing pleasure. Please take a look and now that there is more choice we can see if we hit the mark. Enjoy! https://www.dropbox.com/s/tro5t7j2djmqs7f/osc_logos.jpg https://plus.google.com/photos/104830275042059445407/albums/5954095646508699... Thank you! The upper right sketch - square wrapped/"huged" with geeko tail - it's great way of thinking. I think it would be a really good logo.. and that would be a great shirt.. I would like to see this one in colors! It's simple, it has a story, it's apliable.. (- almost as a definition of logo. ) If you agree maybe I can bother some illustrators that could make an illustration of it, with details on geeko tail and stuff? .. -- Lucijana D. Crowns are interesting motif also.. but these are litlle bit too complicated. What I noticed here is usage of roman numbers - it's a great way to accentuate historical side of the story.. Lucijana D. Here is the proposal that got the better comments put through inkscape http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h414/anditosan/Logo_Proposal_4_zps676682... If some illustrators want to work with it, go ahead! Only make sure they don't go to crazy on the design so it wouldn't feel like coming from openSUSE. The sources are on git I was thinking that the crowns that Carlos made could well be something to have for something we could wear at the conference! :D Feeling like a geeko king! Hi Lucijana, I got your ideas, and Tomo sugestion (keep the waves on blue) and I've created another variation of that changing a little bit as you can see in trello [0] - openSUSE Conference to oSC14 o top left (We usually don't separete open from SUSE we only use "openSUSE" according with the tradmarks [1] and [2] guidelines) - openSUSE font type for logo must have to be "Fifithleg" for the same reason above - changed the righ dow corner from green color to red & white grid (trying to bring the reference and creating a stronger connection between the croatia colors with the project and event) - make geeko logo little bit smaller that fits on top left corner The only thing I miss is the crow but never mind, for sure we will use it or thes crow idea later for other purpose ;-) I will try to change and find something that we can improve it a little bit more, also I will try to find a way to make a kind of connection bettwen andy's proposal - red box inside a geeko tail - and this one "Proposal_19" [3] that I really liked [0] https://trello.com/c/Wbv0H1r5/41-osc14-logo [1] http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Artwork_brand [2] http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Artwork_guidelines [3] https://trello-attachments.s3.amazonaws.com/51efb2afe6df929a28002210/52a1441... 2013/12/12 Lucijana Dujic Rastic <lucijana.rastic@open.hr>:

oh.. thanks for tips. :) I thought about it, but haven't got time to explore it deeper. :) I would incorporate these things in my proposal then. Please, don't miss the crown.. :) It would really be too much. There is no need to put everything on it. Logo should communicate the message in the most simplest possible way. Like the greek logo.. it is quite simple, without too many motifs included but still delivers the message. I really like it. It would really be great to have beautiful logo for this conference.. To give a nice wrap to the great content. :) -- Lucijana D.
