[opensuse-conference] conference a4 full page ad
Heya, We are offered a full page ad in the upcoming Linux Magazin if we can send it before Friday. Who is up for giving it a try? The end result doesn't have to have the text that I put in, per-se, just make sure there's an explanation of the event ;-) We might or might not get many visitors due to this, I have no idea- probably not many as it is late (the magazines will go out on July 4 or so). But every bit helps :D Ping me if you've got something. I will send what I have on Thursday night. I created a 'fall-back' in case we don't have time to come up with something better: http://susepaste.org/98076859 Source in github. Feel free to use it as a base for improvement. /J

I offer myself for editing and if you assign a certain subject. Maybe our conference people could write about their impressions on what are the most important things happening at the conference and then we can cite them as we write a longer article. Does anyone know how many words the article is to be? Sorry for the mix-up. We do have an article to write, but that is for linux.com This is an advertisement, see the link I gave - a one-page add to get ppl to come to oSC. Of course, we COULD do it in the form of an article, that's certainly not a bad idea - but we'd have to hurry up a bit :D I have thought only a little about an angle for the article for linux.com, it would have to be interesting for the general readers there. Perhaps it could be about the maturing of the openSUSE community. Put in some bits about the history of openSUSE Conferences (see my blog - I plan on publishing it within 1 hour and it'll have my take on that history) and get quotes from the team on the why and how of this event. Cheers, J

Even better. A mix between text and graphics would be excellent for something like this. I will work on something and present some proposals. -- Andy (anditosan) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-conference+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-conference+owner@opensuse.org

Well Jos, I do like what's shown on the example from susepaste. I would like to take that further and really work on colors and make an impression. Here is a sample of what I am thinking of. http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h414/anditosan/ChameleonCover_zpsb6b988a... I want to take our brand further rather than the conference itself. The conference is, in my view, only incidental. It happens when people like openSUSE. openSUSE is the main event at any of our gatherings. That is why I played this design. Notice how the bottom has an area to add text. This text can have a simple read of what the conference is and why people should go. Dates and location can also be added adhering to this design. I hope you like it and it makes a SPLASH! -- Andy (anditosan) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-conference+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-conference+owner@opensuse.org

Fuck me! pardon my French, but that is just frickin' awesome! I have attached the specs it has to fit in. Tell me what you want from me and I will give it :D

You can perhaps take the text from what I made - it is in github, as I said. Feel free to fix the graphics I did by removing them and putting yours instead :D
I hope you like it and it makes a SPLASH!
WOW, it did in my head! Really, this just ROCKS. KICK ASS! /me is genuinely excited

This is just so cool... Now I wanted to create two banners for LinuxMagazine.de and .com ( 160x600 and 728x90 pixels) but doing it based on our current design is just so... boring? Once you have a decent draft of that ad done, can I screw it into the above sizes please and send it to LM? ;-)
Jos, Andy I really loved the ideabut if you don't mind again, my only concern is how to keep identity beeing creative, because imho this is the challange for artistis, being creative without lossing identity. So I made a suggestion based at the previous andy design I just add the little GREEKO logo + openSUSE, also I add a shadown at the "openSUSE Conference 2013", to make esier to ready it. https://picasaweb.google.com/104830275042059445407/OSC13#5888267241512217922 2013/6/11 Jos Poortvliet <jos@opensuse.org>:

I talked to Andi and he added the openSUSE Conference logo to the poster in the top-right, like you proposed - I also think that looks nice and as you said, it is good to promote ourselves consistently. That is also why we used the official conference logo we use everywhere else, not the one you use here - sorry, but that isn't the official logo... About the shadow, I personally like your version more but andi does not and I asked Camila and she said the shadow is adding too much effect: keep it simple. She actually liked the advertisement so much she said she'd hang up a poster in our bedroom with this geeko... Perhaps we could turn this into a general openSUSE poster, we need some good designs (see https://board.opensuse.org/projects/travel-support-program-management/wiki/B... ). And Carlos, if you want to work on artwork - help prepare the booth box! There's a load of work to be done there, with designs needed for all kinds of things (from postcards to posters to banners to flags to...) and it all has to be generic openSUSE: not related to the conference or any specific release. This geeko picture is great for that, perhaps we have or can find other geeko pictures useful for this purpose? Anyway. I set to work on the banners we needed. After a while Camila told me it was 23:00 and I shouldn't be working but go take a shower (and yell at SUSE for not having a designer so their community manager has to play designer). She then kicked me away from my computer and while I took my shower she made this: http://susepaste.org/59355124 Which is the banner I send to Linux Magazin, together with the one-page advertisement, last version of Andi. Thanks everybody ;-) Hugs, Jos
