[opensuse-conference] Fwd: Re: Bootstrapping Awesome Conference Registration Confirmation
How do we deal with someone who wants to be un-subscribed, as in, won't come to the conf? He does want to pay the Eur 50 for support, which is cool, btw... ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Re: Bootstrapping Awesome Conference Registration Confirmation Date: Thursday 27 September 2012, 22:58:52 From: Andreas K. Huettel <dilfridge@gentoo.org> To: Jos Poortvliet <jpoortvliet@suse.com> Beste Jos, I'm happy to pay the promised donation (a good thing (tm) :), but I'm not coming to Prague because of time constraints. So you dont have to bother with any further preparations for me (and can actually take me out of the list of attendees). Sorry, Andreas Am Mittwoch, 26. September 2012, 20:35:01 schrieben Sie:
Dear reader,
My deepest apologies for sending the previous message to all of you this way. It was obviously meant to go out to each of you individually - not with everyone in to at once. Please do not reply-all on that message to not bother other people.
Again, my humble and sincere apologies for the mistake.

Dear Conference Goer!
Thank you for registering for the Bootstrapping Awesome (LinuxDays, oSC, Gentoo & SUSE) event in Prague on October 20-23!
We look forward to having you there. If you like, you can join the Conference participants mailing list to discuss relevant topics and exchange tips with your fellow participants.
We recommend to join this list but it is not mandatory. There is a separate list for all conference participants which we use for the official announcements.
Join the list by replying to this mail or sending a mail to: opensuse-conference-visitors+subscribe@opensuse.org
Have a lot of fun, Jos Poortvliet and the Bootstrapping Awesome conference team

I don't think he's necessarily saying to unsubscribe him. Only saying don't count his head for things at the oSC (e.g. meals, etc.) We had a bit of trouble getting the donation thing going at Summit until much too late. But one of the options I had briefly thought of for registration is to create some sort of a "Non-Attendee Supporter" registration option where people can donate but aren't counted toward the final headcount. I think this would be a good option and people who see this (through good marketing) will feel motivated to donate (because they wanted to donate somewhere else but nothing exists currently). Better to make a good universal solution like this than to address Andreas's issue specifically. I'm of the belief doing this will gain even more donations than you might have originally anticipated. Just ignore it, I've been told by three guys in total to remove them from the registration list but I don't want to touch manually that list for many reasons and 3 people is way too less to worry (3 guys including that one as well, he has a @gentoo mail in case you haven't noticed ;) ) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-conference+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-conference+owner@opensuse.org
