Hallo all, in general, this page can be used to find the way in Prague by public mass transportation http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/pid/spojeni/ Both English and Deutsch version exists, even there are no language specific links, so users have to find the appropriate language links in the left bottom of the page For smarthpones users, following apps might be considered as usefull https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.mafra.jizdnirady http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/jizdni-rady-idnes.cz/id473503749?mt=8
* Going from Carol hotel (by SUSE office) to the Venue
The closest tram station to Hotel Carol is 'Divadlo Gong' [1]. It seems Google Maps uses the old name 'U Svobodárny', so if you use google-stuff including Android things, try the old name if the new one is not found. The Venue has more than one possibilities, but the most reasonable destination is 'Lotyšská' [2]. One have to use tram line 16 to the tram stop 'Palmovka', there change to line 8 to 'Lotyšská' [3]. Actually, there are five tram stations called 'Palmovka' (cannot be seen at Google Maps), but the first or the second one [4][5] from 'Divadlo Gong' direction serves lines 16 and 8, so no transfer is needed. The travel time is around 38 minutes on working days, or 44 minutes during weekends.
* Going from Diplomat to the city center (specially for evening and night)
The best option is underground station 'Dejvická'[6], which goes directly to the old town ('Staroměstská'[7], 'Můstek'[8], 'Muzeum'[9]) - travel time is 8 minutes maximum and is usable until midnight (I see last chance is 0:16 from Muzeum station). For the later night, there is a tram line 51 serving the 'Dejvická' tram station, alternativelly there are lines 56, 57, which go through 'Hradčanská'[10], so one can wait on 51 here (or try to walk about 1km to hotel). But the interval of night trams is 30 minutes, so it's better to check the times using the applications above, because the overall time might be around one hour.
* Going from Krystal hotel to city center (specially for evening and night)
One would say Krystal is in the city center ;-). Anyway there are many possibilities, even the most reasonable would be go to the underground station 'Karlovo náměstí'[11] and go to the 'Můstek' using line B, which is really close to the old town center. For later night, there are * tram line 54 from 'Náměstí Republiky'[12] to the 'Vodičkova' [13] * tram line 56 from 'Dlouhá třída'[14] to the 'Štěpánská' [15] * tram line 53 from 'Staroměstská'[7] to the 'Karlovo náměstí' [11]
in English. Max can add this information to the website. It will be very useful for attendees.
