[opensuse-cloud] OpenStack image import issue with quickstart installer
Hi folks, I was following the following link http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Cloud_OpenStack_Quickstart to install OpenStack Appliance Quickstart. And kept the settings are mentioned on wiki page. I get the following errors when I import the image. http://paste.opensuse.org/99394556 Why is it happening ? I just installed the appliance on a bare metal box. And downloaded the raw image openSUSE_11.4_JeOS.i686-0.0.1.raw.gz to start with. Thank you, -- Ashutosh Narayan http://ashutoshn.wordpress.com/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+owner@opensuse.org
I was able to resolve this issue. openstack-glance-registry service was unsed. Thank you, On Mon, Mar 18, 2013 at 5:11 PM, Ashutosh Narayan <aashutoshnarayan@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi, I had a question - When I ran cat /etc/SuSE-release on the OS with which OpenStack was bundled I learnt that the version of SuSE is SLES 11 SP1, it's not OpenSuSE. # cat /etc/SuSE-release SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64) VERSION = 11 PATCHLEVEL = 1 Can we use the Enterprise version for our deployments ? Does it require SuSE license ? OpenStack version is Diablo I guess. I wanted to know before I go ahead for further configuration. I'm not sure from where you got SLES with OpenStack (especially SLES SP1), but le me answer your questions:
Can we use the Enterprise version for our deployments ?
Sure.
Does it require SuSE license ?
AFAIK, SUSE doesn't sell licenses but subscriptions for support & updates. So you can very well use this; you just won't get support or updates.
OpenStack version is Diablo I guess.
No idea, I don't know where you got this OS from. Note that I'm not sure anybody here will really be able to help you if you have any issue with this setup. This list is more about the effort for openSUSE :-) Cheers, Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+owner@opensuse.org

I think this is about the openstack appliance on SUSE Studio gallery, which probably shouldn't be based on diablo or on SLES11 SP1.. Greetings, Dirk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+owner@opensuse.org

Although of course support *is* available for SUSE Cloud 1.0 ;-)
I think this is about the openstack appliance on SUSE Studio gallery,
Yes I think this is Christoph's old appliance which he transferred ownership to me.
which probably shouldn't be based on diablo or on SLES11 SP1..
It doesn't make sense to update it - I started from scratch with a new one: http://susestudio.com/appliance/edit/876161 This is already linked from https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:OpenStack but the old one is linked from https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Cloud_OpenStack_Quickstart I added a warning to that page: The rest of this page is out of date, and hopefully will be updated soon. but it may still be easy to miss. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+owner@opensuse.org
Hi, Yes this was an openstack appliace from Suse studio gallery. I did read a warning message on the wiki page. But still gave a try. On getting inputs from you folks, i think I must not proceed with the installation of OpenStack. But again OpenStack stack on OpenSuse should work right ? As per my previous e-mail thread where Vincent pointed instructions to install openstack-demosetup. http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-cloud/2013-03/msg00106.html I hope the list will support me. You are very welcome to try, but it probably only makes sense if you want to help with testing, because things will break for sure ;-) If you have time to collaborate with us, please join the FreeNode IRC #opensuse-cloud channel and the new Trello board (which AJ is about to announce ...)
But again OpenStack stack on OpenSuse should work right ?
Depends on what you mean by "work" ;-) OpenStack can be configured and used in many many different ways ...
I hope the list will support me.
Sure - but please join IRC too ;-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-cloud+owner@opensuse.org
