FWIW, a call or an irc meeting would work for me. Whatever is best for people. Slightly off-topic, but since you mentioned IRC: I think a lot of things discussed here on the list would actually benefit from being discussed on the IRC channel. For instance, when there's an issue in a package or a specific question, my experience is that it is usually faster to discuss it on IRC...
