[opensuse-buildservice] Debian unstable repository
Dear all, as happens for OpenSuse where there is the Factory repository for the upcoming latest packages that will be present into the next release... ... is it possible to have also a repository for the Debian "unstable" in order to create packages for the upcoming Debian releases ?? I need the "unstable" repository of Debian because I've just realized that a lot of Debian users tend to use the "unstable" version :-S That's strange to me... maybe this impression arise from the fact the majority of people that will use my packages use Debian "unstable" :-S In any case, I think that it is worth to add to the build service also the "unstable" repository of Debian, isn'it ?? Dear Dmitriy,
I cannot answer because I don't know the implication of becoming a
maintainer of non-released Debian. If this means that I should
frequently update my packages to fit the requirements of "unstable"
Debian... I think I can afford it.
If means something more, then I don't know if I can afford.
Is It possible to try ??
Cheers,
Gianluca.

Hello,
2013/4/11 Gianluca

Just a clarification, Debian developers usually build packages against unstable suite, then after few days (usually 10d) in unstable, packages migrate to testing. Currently Debian is frozen, so unstable is pretty much kept in sync with testing and testing updates (for release bug fixes) go in via unstable repository. So, developers are using now experimental to build their latest package versions, while waiting on the release (which BTW is taking insane amount of time). I have not tried to use experimental suite in OBS, but it might also be interesting to add.

I would be interested to support non-released Debian at OBS. Could you please expand what is needed to do? BTW, I have a local instance of OBS and I use download on demand methods to be able to build packages against that distro.
