[opensuse-buildservice] kde41
Hello, My main reason to get the PPC build service running is KDE4.1. But for the past couple of days, I get an error, when I try to install it on x86, which is a kind of discouraging to start the compiles: bigone:~ # cat conflicts.txt #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2008-08-11 10:15:14 #### nothing provides kdebase4-workspace = 4.1.60 needed by kdebase4-session-4.1.60-17.6.i586 [ ] do not install kdebase4-session-4.1.60-17.6.i586 #### YaST2 conflicts list END ### Bye, CzP --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Thats very good. :) A few bits of general information however: a) opensuse-kde@opensuse.org is the mailing list to use about problems with the KDE3/4 related buildservice repositories b) if you're interested in using KDE 4.1, you should use the KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop repository. the repo you tried, which is most likely KDE:KDE4:UNSTABLE:Desktop is shipping KDE 4.2, which is, as you noticed, completely untested and partly broken. c) there is a ppc architecture support in the OBS, so packages for ppc should appear quite soon (as soon as the build has been enabled by the site administrator).
nothing provides kdebase4-workspace = 4.1.60 needed by kdebase4-session-4.1.60-17.6.i586
[ ] do not install kdebase4-session-4.1.60-17.6.i586
I believe this error has already been fixed, because from looking at the current spec files this can't happen. that is not true, I run it here on my notebook. So, yes partly broken, but usable and tested ! ;)

What will not happen as long we lack virtualization. I have no timeline for this atm.

Sure, but it requires somebody to be able to actually fix issues to make it useable - there are at least 3 major failing source modules at the moment in there.

KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop does not require virtualisation - only Novell employees have direct access to it.
