[opensuse-buildservice] Webui 2.0 is coming...
Hi, I'm going to deploy now the 2.0 webui on build.opensuse.org. While I'm doing this, the web site may be down or broken - but it should be all fine by lunch time. The code may not be ready for prime time, but it has been tested a lot on the stage server, so I hope the beta testing won't hurt too many innocent users ;) Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Where do I find the equivalent to :- a) diff against linked package? b) list my projects? That's what's seriously missing so far. Regards Dave P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

What's the equivalent of the convenient side menu where I can jump to list my projects from any package or project? Hopefully there's an equivalent of the top login panel when I'm automatically logged out in the middle of a job and I don't have to return to the login page that the above link took me to even though I was already logged in, the internet sometimes gets very slow down here. Otherwise (after I get used to it) it looks good. I'm missing the convenience of clicking on "my requests", "my projects", "home project" etc in the side menu. I've already used the new ui for status for quite a while, this is the first time I've been chucked in the deep end for everything though. Easy menu access to the old side menu items would be appreciated. I found the search only because of another message in this thread. hmm. I was hoping that this was a only a hack until the 2.0 side menu was finished. I didn't realize that this was actually going to be the new design :( Why at the bottom? Now the user must scroll to the bottom of various sized pages to access common navigation actions. I found it first unintuitive, and later rather annoying. -Scott -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

I can see what confused me :- a) my requests link isn't visible from a sub project page. b) my requests link no longer display's requests concerning me c) In order to see requests concerning me, I have to go to a devel project that I'm involved in d) I've only tried a project I'm listed as a maintainer of, I don't know what happens with a project I maintain a package in. Can't we just have a simple link that's visible everywhere that display's both requests concerning and involving me? A filter would take care of the above request's display for people involved in many projects. What happened to the hermes link? does the number in brackets just besides your username bring you to the location you were interested in? I find this very helpful and it begins me directly to 'my requests'. I think a bit of tweaking to the web ui has been happening. This morning I couldn't see the my requests link in sub project home:plater:blender blender but now it's visible. I just tested the branch and submit and managed to fix multimedia:apps xine-ui which had a build dependency problem for quite a while and submitted and then used the link in the above sub project to accept so my worries about requests are now unfounded. In fact the only feature that's missing is online change log updates. It's stupid to have to check out a package that you don't normally work on just to use osc vc to update the change log. I edited it on line but for consistency it should be automatic. "My Projects", "Projects", "Search" As an admin - "Status Monitor" is used a lot. "Home Project" as well, but I see that this is accessed by clicking on the login name at the top right. I notice depending on where you are in the UI one can quickly get to these locations with a simple click if you find the right item to click on, but it is not consistent across the complete site. For instance, "Projects" can be accessed directly from the main landing page via an icon/link in the middle of the page ("List All Projects"). Then from within any project, you can get back the the project list by clicking on the "Build Service > Projects" link at the top right. Maybe it's just a matter of getting use to the new UI and the most efficient way to navigate from any specific view you are currently in. Another dropdown next to "Watchlist" with the links under "User:" and "Locations" currently in the footer plus maybe a link to a top-level "Help" page would be nice for an easy to access and consistent interface for these links. -Scott -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

There's a worst problem which is most probably related. 1) In home:plater I link to package multimedia:apps FA_clalsadrv 2) Because I build kde and non kde packages I immediately go to "Repositories" to disable the build in my kde repositories. 3) I hover my mouse pointer over any of the icons on the page and I don't get the dropdown menu to disable. This is the problem I had above but in this case refreshing the page doesn't do anything, I am unable to alter any setting in the newly created linked package. I also used linktobranch on the package but it didn't help Regards Dave P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

This was my fear in a previous message in this thread about being logged out in the middle of a job. There is no indication that I was logged out apart from (I've just seen it now) the "login" link in the top right corner. At least the old web ui gave an indication of being logged out when the action that required the user to be logged in was taken. The login link will obviously only appear after a refresh. It's actually irritating enough that I get logged out at regular intervals regardless of activity, this means I have to refresh the page before I know what's happening. The first problem went away after a refresh is this possibly due to login and a stale page? One more question, how can I see the versions of the built rpm's? They were clearly visible in the old ui. After all my initial moaning, I've finally learned how to drive the new web ui and I see one big improvement: In package or project overview the handling and viewing of built rpms is excellent. The one improvement that I would ask for is a notification that the new rpm displayed is actually in the repository. At least now I can simply click on the "Go to download repository" link and see that the rpm isn't present which is easier than a zypper ref and zypper se. The display of provides and requires with links is especially welcome. It maybe removes the need for knowing that the rpms are in the repository for anything except for debugging. I updated the package meta data (via updatepacmetafromspec) and while osc didn't return an error, the web UI does not reflect the changes. So I try again, and osc says the changes still need to be made, so I say 'yes', and ... get no error. osc -H updatepacmetafromspec ... gives me back an HTTP/1.1 200 OK response, but it doesn't appear to be taking. -- Jon -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

It has different time periods for different things. Meta informations it caches 30 minutes. We will invalidate the cache when you press reload though. Hi Stephan, it's nice, but now I have to "click" much more than with previous version. It is more time consuming. Is it possible to have a 'compact view' for packages where I see - pkg name maintained in project - files - link to other project (if linked) - build files (with build status) And with "My Requests" it would be nice to see "ID" And in the header it would nice to have a 'dropdown' for all 'involved projects' for faster switch. And I miss a listing of subprojects Chris Stephan Kulow schrieb:

well, the pages are loading much faster now. This saves also time.

This will lead to slow loading pages again.
And with "My Requests" it would be nice to see "ID"
And in the header it would nice to have a 'dropdown' for all 'involved projects' for faster switch.
And I miss a listing of subprojects
It is behind the "Advanced" tab. bye adrian

It's just ruby on rails.

To do what?
And in the header it would nice to have a 'dropdown' for all 'involved projects' for faster switch.
You can configure your watchlist.
And I miss a listing of subprojects
It's in the advanced tab. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

I'm sure it's possible and Thomas even wrote a nice howto on how to get startet with the webui programming. It's just ruby on rails.

On the requests page there is no submitreq ID shown.

I'm not talking about watchlist. I'm talking about "Involved projects".

Yes and I'm telling you, you can easily configure your involved projects as watch list. As a matter of fact, for future releases we plan to replace the watchlist with a more generic inner-site favorites list, so you can "bookmark" projects or packages or specific monitor states. Yes that's nice. Watchlist - I can configure :) Why not having a "Involved Projects" "button just beside "Watchlist". This is all I would like see. Hi,
I'm going to deploy now the 2.0 webui on build.opensuse.org. While I'm doing this, the web site may be down or broken - but it should be all fine by lunch time.
The code may not be ready for prime time, but it has been tested a lot on the stage server, so I hope the beta testing won't hurt too many innocent users ;)
Greetings, Stephan
Are there any plans to incorporate osc vc in the web ui? Regards Dave P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

I'm not aware of it, but it sounds like a good idea. At least if there is a .changes file in the file list - possibly even only in the view_file action for .changes files. This does not harm, but I would like to see that someone continue to work on the new changelog concept first: http://wiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_Concept_Changelog There is definitive not much meat inside of this concept yet. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

openFATE #309562 the rest of Webui 2.0 is so good, I actually expected this feature to be there already. The other improvement I would like is for built rpms to arrive in the physical repository faster, is there a reason for this often takes more than 8 hours. If I need to physically test a package I've just built I have to wait until the next day. Huh? You can download the built package. No need for publishing. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Ok I've just worked out how to download it, I could never get it right before, but installing it from a local repository isn't the same as a proper installation. Why do packages take such a long time to load into the physical repository anyway? because createrepo is doing lot of IO. -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Thanks, so if lot's of packages are publishing it causes the slow down. Now I understand. Dave P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org
