I don't think they've updated it yet, but the place to check is: http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/KDE4 Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

What a memory hog kde 4.4 is. I hope I'm doing something wrong. I have 2 GB of ram and I pulled kde4.4-rc a day or two ago assuming that was plenty of RAM but I've noticed heavy swapping this morning. Looking at top, its no wonder: nepomuk by itself looks like it is using 3GB which is obviously causing swapping. I had it set to only use a 50MB database, so I 3GB is bizarre. I'll disable nepomuk, but look at all the heavy ram users PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 2848 gaf 20 0 229m 137m 2664 S 0 6.9 226:47.63 virtuoso-t 2824 gaf 20 0 1902m 65m 4152 S 0 3.3 74:10.49 nepomukservices 1895 root 20 0 594m 80m 8960 R 6 4.0 66:26.28 Xorg 2800 gaf 20 0 745m 63m 12m S 0 3.2 32:04.45 plasma-desktop 23709 gaf 39 19 542m 49m 6516 S 0 2.5 22:12.89 nepomukservices 4415 gaf 20 0 174m 4196 3004 S 0 0.2 6:56.03 nepomukservices 2792 gaf 20 0 481m 13m 7104 S 0 0.7 6:29.10 kwin 3057 gaf 20 0 291m 4156 1888 S 0 0.2 2:04.00 mysqld 4176 mysql 20 0 145m 2180 660 S 0 0.1 1:52.96 mysqld 4414 gaf 20 0 308m 4076 3136 S 0 0.2 1:39.85 nepomukservices 4416 gaf 20 0 333m 41m 3024 S 0 2.1 1:25.79 nepomukservices 4411 gaf 20 0 248m 3592 2932 S 0 0.2 1:21.80 nepomukservices 4412 gaf 20 0 249m 3628 2992 S 0 0.2 1:15.39 nepomukservices What is virtuoso anyway? Virtuoso is the data storage backend for nepomuk. Try disabling nepomuk as you say and see if it helps; then if you've got time try and debug which of the nepomuk services is going crazy (strigi (file indexing) or something else?) On my machine (4.4RC3) with nepomuk disabled, on bootup I have ~400MB RAM total used, including a few trayicon applets and some plasma widgets, which is really good in my opinion. A massive memory leak was found and fixed after 4.4RC3. But this is off-topic for opensuse-buildservice@, if necessary, let's continue on opensuse-kde@. It will be in KDE:KDE4:Factory (currently contains 4.4RC3). But Greg is correct, when in doubt, check that wiki page for the final word. Regards, Tejas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org
