Hello, I got a Connection time out on http://download.opensuse.org/factory/iso/ Something broken ? Yeah - it's been that way on and off for about 8 hours here. I think it's time the openSUSE project publicized the mirror structure in a better way. I'm sure there are mirrors here in the USA for the nearly two dozen repositories I use, and I'd be happy to use them if it was trivial for me to find them! "The master download server, download.opensuse.org, automatically redirects you to a server near you. The information on this page is generated directly off the database used by the master download server. So under normal circumstances, there should be no need to use mirrors directly, and look at this table for that purpose. If you do see the need, there might be something wrong and it would be appreciated if you notify the admins about it, so it can be fixed for the benefit of yourself, and possibly many other users." That's all well and good, but: a. The list is automatically generated and whatever mechanism does the generating is currently not functioning. The "list" for the build service repositories is empty. b. There's no phone number / email address / web form for someone to "notify the admins." There's just this mailing list. ;-) So: I see the need and I think the build service admins should see the need as well - we need a static list of mirrors and a way to notify the admins when the automated tool is down. -- Twitter: http://twitter.com/znmeb Computational Journalism Server http://j.mp/compjournoserver Data is the new coal - abundant, dirty and difficult to mine. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org
