[opensuse-buildservice] [ANNOUNCE] new osc plugin: "maintainer" - add changlog authors to normal maintainer output
Hello all! After several colleagues mentioned the importance to look into changelogs if a contact person for a package is needed, I added this functionality to the osc maintainer command. Here is a trivial implementation as a osc plugin: - https://github.com/jnweiger/osc-plugin-maintainer Should something like this be included in the core osc code? Overwriting an existig command from a plugin is not really nice. cheers, JW- -- o \ Juergen Weigert paint it green! __/ _=======.=======_ <V> | jw@suse.de back to ascii! __/ _---|____________\/ \ | 0911 74053-508 say #263A!__/ (____/ /\ (/) | _____________________________/ _/ \_ vim:set sw=2 wm=8 SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, J.Guild, F.Imendoerffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg), Maxfeldstrasse 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany SuSE. +1 from me. I would recommend you add it to the core, submit a pull request, and hopefully Marcus will accept it. At least that worked for me since he accepted prdiff earlier today :-) It's really as easy as indenting the code and then putting it into osc/commandline.py: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:OSC_plugins#More_information -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org

Hm, this conflicts with the "osc owner" search to some degree. The owner search asks OBS server for the official maintainer. While this command could be a nice addition, I fear that people will care less about maintaining the official (bug)owner settings. Is there any reason why your collegues not used "osc owner" command? -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org
I was not aware of osc owner. I'll have a look.

Adrian, what is 'osc owner'?
% osc owner --help osc: unknown command: 'owner' Try 'osc help' for info.
osc-0.137.0-88.2.noarch
erm, sorry, I had a mixup in mind. The owner search is new the api. And the new osc 0.137 is using it when doing a maintainer or bugowner lookup. Just run osc maintainer glibc-devel for example to lookup the package owner by a given binary name (glibc-devel in this case). Maybe we should add "osc owner" as an alias for that ... bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org
