[opensuse-buildservice] [RFC] rpm on debian packages
hi, atm the buildservice tries to build rpms on .deb platforms if no deb package description is found. imho this is not the best behavior and should be disabled. comments? darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

These rpms are installebale on debian as well, since this is the format defined by LSB. So, better have something to be able to install and run than nothing, no ? -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

if those rpms are supposed to be build for debian in first place maybe. but in the end you got a mixup of different dependency systems. how should an rpm on debian see the stuff provided by debian packages? imho we should only provide native packages. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Does the BS use the old payload format by default on that systems? Anyway, I agree with darix here, RPMs on Debian systems are not the intended behaviour and should be disabled by default. Dunno, it depends on debian's rpm version. I agree it's more confusing than helpful. +Thomas -- Thomas Anders (thomas.anders at blue-cable.de) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

so far most comments tend lean towards native packages only. so can we disable the specfiles on deb distributions? darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org
