[opensuse-buildservice] state of http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/[SUSE_Linux_9.3]
Hi, now that all issues concerning $subject seems to be consequently ignored, I try one more time: After providing a too early released 3.5.4, the whole repo got removed, but without reverting to a decent backup version (e.g. 3.5.3). This is very unfortunate, since I'm as silly as trusting your service in providing some decent KDE version, which I do rsync stupidly with --delete. Okay, that's definitely my fault, which I do regret! Now I'm desperately fighting with designer crashing way too often, up to the point where I decided to rebuild qt3-3.3.6-151.1 in order to get to the debuginfo packages. But no hope, no src package available. Adrian, while the build service concept is sound, and I understand, that there's no warranty in any aspect, but KDE: is a big mess, which needs urgent fixing. I'm sure, I'm not the only one, who relies on it. Getting ignored with notifying issues doesn't raise confidence either. Am I forced to revert to 9.3's original KDE version in order to get back to a consistent system? You aren't getting ignored. The problem is that the KDE project maintainers are just preparing a new version and thus repository syncing is turned off. By mistake it was on for a short time last week, so it was decided to remove the packages from the repo and fetch the old version from the mirrors. Adrian sent a mail explaining this to this mailing list. It seems like this getting back of the old versions could not be done completely (as your mail implies). I don't think anything can be done about it right know, we're all waiting for the KDE maintainers to give their go. Could you point me to this message, please? The only note I found concerning this topic, was his answer from 2006/07/26 15:20 to Re: [opensuse] KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1 unsigned repomd.xml on the opensuse list, where he admitted the mess and committed to restore to a former state, which hasn't been done since then.

If this cannot be done, please explain the reasons in order to let me *) estimate the danger from such problems in future *) plan local arrangements to prevent them affecting my setups Meanwhile, could somebody point me to or send me __privately__ a copy of: qt3-3.3.6-151.1.src.rpm. Yes, I meant this mail. I thought it also went to opensuse-buildservice, but that wasn't the case. And maybe it lacked a bit of detail. I don't know the current state of the KDE mess, I hope Adrian writes another mail.

I don't think there is danger of haveing this problem again. It happened because the buildservice didn't support a way of turning off the repository syncing. Thus the syncing was stopped by a quick hack, a local change on the buildservice host. This change got lost when we updated to a newer version release. Bad luck... We're now adding a way to turn of syncing in the project configuration, so this can't happen anymore. Yes, sorry again for this. No mirror have our 3.5.3 packages anymore and we do not want checkin 3.5.3 sources again. This will be fixed with the 3.5.4 release on wednesday morning. JFYI, we messed this up with a manual hack. We will implement a manual release functionality in the build service to avoid this in the future and to give packagers a chance to test their packages, before they release it to the mirrors. Sorry again, this is caused by our alpha stage development, but we have a solution for the future at least :) bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice-help@opensuse.org
