[opensuse-buildservice] complementary project name in BS
Hi, i have little question about projects in BS we (i and bwalle) thought about adding some utility package for xfce, which are not part of official xfce releases. We hesitate about creating new projects like X11:xfce-complementary or X11:small-xfce-desktop it is some default way how to bind such projects together, or just create another project in BS? Which will be best naming scheme then? IMHO a logic naming scheme would be X11:XFCE:Core X11:XFCE:Complementary But it is only an internal identifier in the end, the user will get more clever tools to find it. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

All what you define by this is the ID and the place on the ftp server. But nothing else, when you want to build against latest XFCE packages from your other project you have to define it when you configure your repositories. Do not build against "SL 10.1/standard" but against "X11:XFCE/SL-10.1" for example.

I would not rename it. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

The official spelling is Xfce. So I think xfce is ok, Xfce also, but XFCE IMO not. I don't have a link for this, but it was on the mailing list and if you doubt, I can ask again. :) Regards, Bernhard -- Allradantrieb Allradantrieb bedeutet, dass man dort stecken bleibt, wo der Abschleppwagen nicht hinkommt.

on irc pavel stated that the tools are not bound to XFCE. epdfviewer e.g. i would vote for X11:utilities or X11:viewers. if a package is kinda bound to xfce (due lib dependencies) i would vote for put it directly into the X11:xfce project darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

You talk about a search function? Well, but I think there are also users that add the repository to the package manager because installing and updating such packages manually is a pain. So it's important that we have things that belongs together in one repository.
