new devel project plus some spring cleanup

Hello all, I'd like to start promoting openSUSE in the astro world, but in order to do that I'd like to first do some OBS cleanup/reorg. What I'd like to do is: * Push graphics/CImg to openSUSE:Factory * Push science/ccfits to openSUSE:Factory * Create devel project "Application:Astrophotography" * Move from KDE:Extra to Application:Astrophotography (the maintainer wrote in an old SR I made that they put libindi there because no one else wanted to maintain it) - libindi * Move from Application:Geo to Application:Astrophotography (I'm the current maintainer for this, so no issue here I guess) - phd2 * Delete from Science (I'm the one pushing to Science/ASTAP*, but because of the fast release cycle I stopped doing that and kept only the one in my home) - ASTAP{,-dbs,-g17data} * Move from home:polslinux:astrophotography to Application:Astrophotography - libindi-3rdparty (this is a must, having only libindi is of very little to no use. But I don't think this can be pushed to Factory. There are way too many firmware :)) - Skychart{,-data} - sirilic - lin_guider - ASTAP{,-dbs,-h17data} (the guys in Science told me that due to licensing issue -dbs can't go to factory, and without dbs it's of no use this program) - ser_player - astrometetry.net What are your thoughts on this? Thanks a lot, Best regards, Paolo

Sounds like an excellent idea to me. Even better if it goes not only to TW, but as well into Leap
Cheers Axel
Hi I wonder if the firmware side of it could be released in the non-oss repositories? -- Cheers Malcolm °¿° SUSE Knowledge Partner (Linux Counter #276890) Tumbleweed 20210307 | GNOME Shell 3.38.3 | 5.11.2-1-default Intel DQ77MK | Xeon E3-1245 V2 X8 @ 3.40 GHz | Intel/AMD/Nvidia up 2 days 3:40, 2 users, load average: 1.34, 1.03, 0.94

That could be a good idea! Having the firmware and the weirdly licensed dbs on non-oss would solve the issue

Thanks :) I really would like to forward everything to TW/Leap, this way the final user would have everything ready to be installed, so the entry barrier would be even lower. The steps I have in my mind for now are: 1) move everything into one place, as described above 2) enable aarch64 for TW (RPi is widely used in the astro world, including by myself :)) -> fix compilation issues 3) enable aarch64 for Leap 15.3 -> fix compilation issues 4) should I look also into 15.2? I know by facts that ATIK drivers do not compile there, because they need glibc 2.27. The other drivers seem good though.

Half the science live in /science, the other half scattered in /Applications (e.g. Applications:Geo, Applications:ERP:GNUHealth, ...) That's is very unforunate, and it's too bad OBS makes reorganizing those groupings difficult as well.

You mean that Science:Astrophotography would be a better fit? For me it's OK, I wrote Applications, but it can be wherever it best fits :)
