[opensuse-buildservice] backgroundrb
Hi, I commited a backgroundrb worker into the frontend. This means you need to need to start ./scripts/backgroundrb if you want uptodate workerstatus in your web client. For most test instances this will not be interesting though. Can you give a little more description of backgroundrb? I may have missed previous discussion, but I'm not following you. I assume that this is related? http://backgroundrb.rubyforge.org/ Is this a new requirement for people with their own instances? Will this be added to the existing init scripts, or is there a new init script? Which version is this going to get released in? -- Michael -----Original Message----- From: Stephan Kulow [mailto:coolo@suse.de] Sent: Fri 11/13/2009 3:24 AM To: opensuse-buildservice@opensuse.org Subject: [opensuse-buildservice] backgroundrb Hi, I commited a backgroundrb worker into the frontend. Yes, if you want to use the status server page (maybe more later).

There will be a new one.
Which version is this going to get released in? --
1.7

I've been using backgroundrb to automate generating the dep graph for builds and exporting from subversion on a nightly basis for our local instance. It works great for managing long running tasks inside the rails environment. On Fri, 2009-11-13 at 09:31 -0600, Michael_E_Brown@Dell.com wrote:

While my first experiences were great too, it now shows some problems. Namely: if a job has a problem once, it's never ran again ;( But we make sure before 1.7 release the issue is sorted out - google showed me that there are alternatives for it that I may try out before we have too much code specific to backgroundrb. So far the actual worker is 3 lines.
