as you probably know, we have HTML files generated by repoview, located in the repodata directories.
When mirror servers mirror the buildservice repositories, they are mirroring the repoview data at the same time.
Do you think this is useful?
I think those files should be excluded from the rsync module, in order to save bandwidth and decrease the time needed to mirror the repositories. The added space requirement is insignificant, but the number of files being mirrored is roughly multiplied by a factor of 2, which increases the rsync load on our server and slows things down. Our mirror scanner is also being slowed down by this.
Given that the HTML files - are a workaround because we don't have a better way of repository viewing yet, - are not seriously used, at least I'm not aware of, and - can be viewed on download.opensuse.org anyway, I suggest that we exclude them from the rsync module, so they are not mirrored anymore.
Sounds good to me! Thanks, Christoph -- Christoph Thiel, Tech.
