[Bug 592432] New: follow on sftp sessions as same user fail
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=592432 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=592432#c0 Summary: follow on sftp sessions as same user fail Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 4 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: LXDE AssignedTo: andrea@opensuse.org ReportedBy: lee_matheson@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/3.6.2-1.3 Firefox/3.6.2 If one connects to another PC on the LAN with PCManFM via sftp://user1@some-ip-address. Then disconnects as that user, and then some time later after tries to reconnect as same user to same IP, PCManFM does not connect, but just gives an endless busy circle with no connection. However if one types in a different user name to same IP address: sftp://user2@some-ip-address then it will connect. For some reason a repeat user on same IP address does not work. PCManFM versions: libfm0-0.1.9beta+git20100330-23.1, libfm-0.1.9beta+git20100330-23.1, pcmanfm-lang-0.9.3beta+git20100324-45.1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. connect to ip as a user using PCManFM and sftp in location bar: sftp://user@ip-address 2. disconnect 3. try again to connect as the same user to same ip address - it fails 4. try to connect to same IP address as different user - it works. Actual Results: subsequent connection attempts as a user will fail, while first attempt works. Expected Results: Multiple connection attempts should work. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

it's apparantly a gvfs bug. try it with nautilus can confirm this. if it's reproducible with nautilus, bug report to gvfs instead.
so.. can you please guys test with nautilus and see if you still have that bug? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is sftp even supported by version 2-29.92.1-1.3 of nautilus? (I tried both that factor version and the milestone-4 packaged version 2.-29.92.1-1.1). The nautilus location bar does not allow one to type anything (such as in ip address) inside nautilus. So I then installed FileZilla on this LXDE desktop, and with it I can connect via sftp to all of my PCs. Does that answer your question? If not please re-apply the "need info". I can also confirm that gvfsd-sftp does not disconnect when trying with PCManFM and gvsfsd-sftp has to be killed manually. I saw 93% cpu use from gvsfsd-sftp. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I tried Nautilus again, this time going to the Nautilus > File > Connect to Server and then selected Server type "ssh" and typed in the details of my other PC. Nautilus would not connect. I also observed gvfsd-sftp up at 95% with the failed Nautilus attempt. I can provide any specific /var/log file, or output of dmesg, but I do not know what is meant by "attach to the process with gdb and get a few stack traces". Can you point me to a reference or simplify the explanation a bit as to how I get this? Sorry for my lack of knowledge. I understand gdb is a program to install, and that I can get some sort of trace with: gdb -p pid . but what is the technique? I'm not sure why you had to kill it, though. Doesn't pressing ctrl-c in gdb interrupt the program for you? I'd need a stack trace where things don't seem to be blocked in poll(), so you might to interrupt the process a few times for this. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Identical output each time as per above. The information is identical. Ctrl-c in gdb kill nautilus, but it does not kill gvfsd-sftp which is the process sitting at 95% cpu and going on endless.
