[Bug 1017824] New: clementine switched to another sound card between songs
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1017824 Bug ID: 1017824 Summary: clementine switched to another sound card between songs Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound Assignee: tiwai@suse.com Reporter: jslaby@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 708254 --> http://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=708254&action=edit alsa-info I have two sound cards: * HDA-Intel -- in the notebook * FiiO DigiHug -- over USB I use the latter for sound output when I am in a docking station. On the Playback tab in pavucontrol, I set Clementine to play through DigiHug. In the past month or so, sometimes the output is switched to the internal audio (Intel HDA) when Clementine changes from one song to another. So this seems to be a regression. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Basically there haven't been so much changes. PA didn't get updates recently. ALSA got an update, and this might be the case. Or, it might be kernel. But I can't imagine how the kernel changes result in this behavior change... If it's a kernel regression, it'd be great if you can know which kernel started regression. Also as an easy test: could you try to downgrade libasound2.rpm to the version in openSUSE:Leap:42.2 (not *:Update) to see whether you still see the issue? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hmm, so I seem unable to reproduce with 42.2's version. So, it seems like something from this update causes the issue: +------------------------------------------------------------------- +Tue Nov 29 15:01:05 CET 2016 - tiwai@suse.de + +- Backport upstream fixes (bsc#1012594): -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Just to be sure to check whether I missed something in the package before 1.1.3. In your case, it's PA, so the dmix and such plugins don't matter. And UCM isn't used for HD-audio nor USB-audio. So the only relevant patches are: 0004-pcm-Better-understandable-locking-code.patch 0013-pcm_plug-Clear-plugins-on-all-error-conditions.patch 0014-mixer-Don-t-install-smixer-modules-unless-python-is-.patch 0018-pcm-Add-the-PCM-state-checks-to-plugins.patch The most suspected one is 0018-*. 0004-* is only about the naming and the flip logic, no real functional change. 0013-* is about the special error case, and usually it won't happen. 0014-* is about the unused *.so file, so it should be irrelevant. Do you want me to build a test package with a revert? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm going to do MR for Leap 42.2, maybe in the next week, unless I get the report. Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
