https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227472 ------- Comment #1 from paulr@zoom.co.uk 2006-12-11 14:34 MST ------- I have been doing some work on this today and have got futher. It looks like two things. x86 version: I can get this to install if I changed the vga setting to VESA (this is the only one that works). During the install I was offerd a sil RAID device once this was deleted then the install went ahead OK otherwise it was panicing. x86_64 version: By selecting the VESA option it boots but hangs at: IO scheduler cfq registered (default) Only a power off /on will fix this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

It hangs after the boot and before the graphical menu. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227472 ------- Comment #5 from paulr@zoom.co.uk 2006-12-14 13:11 MST ------- I have taken some photos: # 4105 4107 4111 - This is a "normal" install the black screen is where it hangs. # 4117 4128 4131 4141 4151 & 4155 - This is if I select apci=off, it gets to the install screen but; an fdisk shows no devices to install to. # 4160 4166 & 4171 - This is if I select VESA, it hangs as seen on 4171. Looking around I have a ASUS A8N SLI Premium, it does look like people have been having problems with the ASUS A8N boards. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227472 ------- Comment #19 from paulr@zoom.co.uk 2007-01-02 15:32 MST ------- Hi there, Sorry for the delay but Christmas and other computers have been getting in the way. OK a few things, I reset the BIOS to defaults and disabled the sil image SATA controller, then noapic will install, good. pci=noacpi or nmi_watchdog=0 does not affect it. The other thing is that I think it is a ASUS & kernel problem as I have just down loaded Mandrake 2007 and it has the same problem, I then purchased an ABIT AN8 32X that also has the CK804 Chipset and both distros installed clean. The motherboard is an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium. Please let me know what else I can do. regards paul -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
