[Bug 1063985] New: ReinerSCT cardreader stops reacting after a certain time
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1063985 Bug ID: 1063985 Summary: ReinerSCT cardreader stops reacting after a certain time Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.3 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: wolfgang@rosenauer.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- My ReinerSCT cardreader stops working after a certain (unknown) time. I can only make it work again by disconnecting and reconnecting the USB connection. So far it seems like the hardware goes into some limbo state caused by whatever. This happens with pcsc-lite and pcsc-cyberjack as shipped in 42.3 and also with the updated cyberjack driver to SP11. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1063985 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1063985#c1 --- Comment #1 from Wolfgang Rosenauer <wolfgang@rosenauer.org> --- I'm in contact with the upstream maintainer of the cyberjack driver. This is related to hardware specifics and apparently can be avoided by having pcscd running permanently which is the case on Windows and MacOS as well. In that case the device should not enter the unresponsive state. A workaround would be a USB reset but this will reset all other connected USB devices as well which can be an issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

But we introduced a change starting with pcsc-lite 1.8.23 to not auto-exit the daemon anymore once it was started.
