[Bug 727055] New: "nouveau" grafic-driver not working with nvidia grafic card and grafical autoconfig fails because it cant find an supported grafic-card
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=727055 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=727055#c0 Summary: "nouveau" grafic-driver not working with nvidia grafic card and grafical autoconfig fails because it cant find an supported grafic-card Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: RC 1 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: barthel.daniel@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- first the grafical autoconfig fails because it cant find an supported grafic-card with nvidia grafic card (geforce gt 120M), the text-based autoconfig success but it dont install a special nvidia grafic driver, it installs the "nouveau"-driver by standart, but this one is not working correctly with the nvidia grafic card. as errors after the grub menu, u get for a short time a black screen with some green stripes (from the bootlogo) on screen and the grafic seems to be very slow and dont display everything correctly. another problem, which i guess, is linked with this, is before u see the kdm-login, after the boot u get a konsole window for a minute (u would be able to access the system trought this, without login) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

the error-message is:
the graphical oberfläsche could not be started. either the required packages were not installed (minimal installation) or the graphics card is not supported in an appropriate manner

Sure this is the logfile during installation? Since we're using a static xorg.conf with fbdev as graphics driver ... After installation we're using autoconfiguration (nouveau driver in your case). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
