[Bug 803993] New: partitioner prefers sdcard over harddisk
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803993 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803993#c0 Summary: partitioner prefers sdcard over harddisk Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jw@suse.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I usually have an sdcard in my lenovo laptop card reader. This has never been an issue during installation, but with 12.3 I encounter this: - partitioner makes a proposal to partition /dev/mmcblk0 shrinking the existing windows partition and adding root swap home. I enter expert mode and edit all the suggested partitions away, and recreate my usual setup on /dev/sda6 root, /dev/sda8 home, /dev/sda2 swap after that, the partitioner still believes it should shrink the filesystem on the sd-card, which I prefer to not be touched at all. I searched the options, but found nothing where I could say 'dont shrink.' My solution was to eject the card and start all over. It is a good idea, to also consider sdcards now, but a user should be allowed to choose and change his mind. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This forgets current proposal and puts you in a dialog where you can either choose another disk to do a proposal for or go into expert partitioner without any modifications and set up your partitions yourself. You probably selected "Edit Partition Setup", this should be used when the proposal is mostly fine and needs only small modifications (e.g. different root fs type). When you are in Expert partitioner you can always press "Rescan Devices" this undoes all current changes (regardless if from proposal or from you) and puts you int the state of unchanged on disk layout. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
