[Bug 383090] New: Synaptic touchpad loses bytes and disables tapping after battery to AC power change
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=383090 Summary: Synaptic touchpad loses bytes and disables tapping after battery to AC power change Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: myrosia@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=210024) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=210024) lspci -v output I have a Dell Latitude D430, fresh OpenSuse 10.3 install, with a touchpad using synaptics driver. If I use the machine using battery power for a while, and then plug it into an electric outlet, touchpad tapping stops working. The mouse pointer still moves, but taps don't work anymore. Simultaneously, dmesg shows psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1 psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1 psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1 psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynched. If I run synclient, it refuses to report either changes in mouse coordinates or taps. I tried i8042.nomux = 1, and it didn't help. I also tried (based on some googling) to unload all cpufreq modules (acpi_cpufreq in my case). This didn't help, either. This happens very consistently. My lspci -v, xorg.conf and xorg.0.log are attached. I updated to 11.0 in the interim. The newest 11.0 kernel shows exactly the same problem with tapping, with the same error messages logged. But I cannot test it with acpi=off because when I tried, I discovered that my machine freezes on boot with that parameter, either if I do acpi=off or when I do failsafe mode (!). I am going to file a bug for that, but it means that I cannot do the test you asked for until the booting issue is fixed.
Well yes, there are machines that don't boot with ACPI disabled at all, I was just trying to test whether your machine is of such a kind. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
