[Bug 441567] New: Problem with pidgin notifications and otr
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441567 Summary: Problem with pidgin notifications and otr Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta4 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bwhiteley@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Pidgin notifications often don't work right when OTR is used. The problem occurs when I have been chatting with someone in an encrypted (OTR) session, and then they end their encrypted session. This often happens unintentionally because they have to restart pidgin, or close their chat window and open a new one without setting the session to 'private' before sending a message. When this happens I see this in the chat window: (10:24:22 AM) The following message received from my_chat_buddy was not encrypted: [<chat message here>] [Image] (10:24:23 AM) Unverified conversation with my_chat_buddy started. When this happens, the buddy name in the chat window tab does not turn blue as it normally does. Instead the name is bold and black or gray. More important, the pidgin tray icon does not indicate that a new message has arrived. Several co-workers have reported missing new messages due to the same problem. Pidgin should be fixed to use the normal notification code path when these types of messages come through an OTR session. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
