[Bug 308479] New: Network install via eth1 fails if eth0 has already been attempted
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=308479 Summary: Network install via eth1 fails if eth0 has already been attempted Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: u1_fd@dslr.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer If a box for PXE or network-required installation comes up with the active network on eth1 (not eth0) and the user attempts a manual IP address input via eth0 first, then via eth1, "no route to host" appears, and it is impossible to proceed without opening a shell and figuring out what went wrong. I suspect this is because the default route is left pointing to eth0 and whatever you do with eth1 fails after that - unless you purposely give eth0 an IP address on a different subnet. It might be better to display a summary in the "use alreaedy configured network?" dialog that displays the current IP address of both interfaces, whether they are UP or not, and the current default route otherwise a lot of time is wasted trying different network boot scenarios hoping to find one that works. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
