[Bug 804930] New: GVim has no icon on openSUSE 12.3
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=804930 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=804930#c0 Summary: GVim has no icon on openSUSE 12.3 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: indigojo@blogistan.co.uk QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/24.0.1312.70 Safari/537.17 I installed GVim from the standard package repositories for OpenSUSE 12.3 (I used the Network CD to install). The program shows up in the "Applications" menu, rather than in "Utilities/Editor" which is its more appropriate location. It also lacks an icon, although a bouncing Vim icon appears next to the mouse pointer when I launch it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install gvim from Yast 2. Open up the main applications menu (e.g. the SUSE icon in KDE) 3. Look in the Applications tab, and then the Applications section - you should find an iconless "GVim Text Editor2 Actual Results: GVim launches as usual when I launch it. Expected Results: Should have an icon in the menu, and should be in the "Utilities/Editors" section. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There might be some old *.desktop files lying around maybe? I fixed the desktop file and it will be in "Utilities/Editors" now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So my guess is you might have a custom desktop file under $HOME which confuses the menu entries.
