[Bug 731356] New: System won't install on HP DL380 (Smart Array 6i problem)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731356 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731356#c0 Summary: System won't install on HP DL380 (Smart Array 6i problem) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: claudio.prono@atpss.net QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=462909) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=462909) boot.msg of failed installer. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 I have encountered some difficulties installing OpenSuSE 12.1 x64 on a HP DL380 Server. During the installation, no disks are detected. I have a bit investigated on this issue, and found an error into the /var/log/boot.log: <6>[ 1.921227] cciss 0000:04:03.0: PCI IRQ 51 -> rerouted to legacy IRQ 19 <6>[ 1.921262] cciss 0000:04:03.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 19 (level, low) -> IRQ 19 <4>[ 1.921363] cciss 0000:04:03.0: Controller reports max supported commands of 0, an obvious lie. Using 16. Ensure that firmware is up to date. <3>[ 2.004219] cciss 0000:04:03.0: Unable to get irq 19 for cciss0 <4>[ 2.004309] cciss: probe of 0000:04:03.0 failed with error -1 The solution i have found is specify noapic, acpi=off into the kernel parameters, and the system installs perfectly. After the installation, for booting the installed system i have also added noapic, acpi=off on the kernel boot parameters, or it don't boot. I have tested this problem only on the Kernel-desktop, the Kernel-default finish the boot without problems.
