However, I can remember when I switched to the first KDE version using the akonadi framework, I had the same problem: newly added birthdays and other things did not appear in the calendar, but old birthdays and entries did show up. The reason for this was, that the data was stored in different resources. Are your birthday resource settings in sync regarding the addressbook and the calendar? Under KDE settings>Personal Information, in the drop-down-box "resources": what resources (and especially defaults) are active?
