[Bug 374158] New: X Org lets my hard disk without free space
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=374158 Summary: X Org lets my hard disk without free space Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: oscar.mejia@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Customer Hi This is the second time. The file .xsession-errors in home directory growed to reach 40Gb that was the hard disk's free space. The problem was with kbluetooth that recorded an error in the file each 500ms. This file cannot grow to reach this enormous size. Is a bug stupid, it must have a maximum size. X Org must have control like the kernel with the /var/log/messages file. The first time I rebooted the computer and during the boot fsck showed errors in the hard disk. This time I solved the problem deleting the .xsession-errors file and with lsof kill the processes that use the file. If the file is open for each application the problem is with kbluetooth, if not the problem is with X Org. Before I upgraded kbluetooth to the version 1.0.0 beta3 and the bluetooth didn't work as the previous version. Then, I downgraded to the previous version (0.99svn576598-38) and the bluetooth worked as before. Something from the new version was on memory trying to connect to my mobile without success and recording this on the file .xsession-errors to full the hard disk. I don't think this is a kdebluetooth bug. There must be a control mechanism for that file to not increase infinite. But to remove unneeded debug output, or to fix the code, where the debug never ends... it would be good to have the original kdebluetooth debug message (i always thought the package is build without full debug output). BTW, the newest kdebluetooth version is 1.0 beta8.
I do not have the original debug message now. The disk was full and only tried delete the file. The next time I will record the repeated lines. By the way, I tried to compile the version 1.0 beta8, but I got an error: oscar@elpiso:~/kdebluetooth-1.0_beta8> make cd . && rm -f configure cd . && make -f admin/Makefile.common configure make[1]: se ingresa al directorio `/home/oscar/kdebluetooth-1.0_beta8' aclocal.m4:17: error: this file was generated for autoconf 2.61. You have another version of autoconf. If you want to use that, you should regenerate the build system entirely. aclocal.m4:17: the top level autom4te: /usr/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 63 make[1]: *** [configure] Error 1 make[1]: se sale del directorio `/home/oscar/kdebluetooth-1.0_beta8' make: *** [configure] Error 2 oscar@elpiso:~/kdebluetooth-1.0_beta8> I never get this error when I compile a source. I will try to install the newer version of autoconf (I have the 2.60).
