[Bug 841542] New: LXDE theme bug
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841542 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841542#c0 Summary: LXDE theme bug Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.1 Beta 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: LXDE AssignedTo: andrea@opensuse.org ReportedBy: cppdeveloper@ontelecoms.gr QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=559298) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=559298) This screenshot shows the LXDE theme bug. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/29.0.1547.76 Safari/537.36 OS: OpenSUSE 12.3 and 13.1 Beta 1. Desktop environment: LXDE. There is a theme bug, which has as a result, if you select a file in file manager (PCManFM), its filename does not show anymore, because of the selection colour. In openSUSE 12.3, only Adwaita theme (in System-> Preferences-> Customize Look and Feel-> Widget), appears to work. The other themes have a similar issue. In openSUSE 13.1 Beta, this change to the Adwaita theme, is NOT stored, after we press the Apply button, close the "Customize Look and Feel" window, and reopen it. So the filenames do not show in PCManFM file manager, due to the theme bug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open file manager (PCManFM). 2.Select a file. Actual Results: The filename of the selected file does not show. Expected Results: The filename of the selected file should be visible. I think the bug also exists in the 32-bit openSUSE 12.3/13.1 with LXDE, versions. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

LXappearance cannot change the current theme. I have tried to change the theme by using Gtk+ 2.0 Change Theme and xfce-settings-manager but they did not work neither. I think it is something GTK3 related. If you install Xfce after LXDE and then you start a Xfce session, the settings are applied and work while using Xfce: PCManFM takes the selected theme and LXappearance reminds the last selected theme. But if you start a LXDE session then problem persist there, theme changes are not applied nor remembered. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The bug is still present in openSUSE 13.1 final. PCManFM doesn't take the selected theme. As PCManFM, other apps doesn't take the theme either. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841542 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841542#c6 --- Comment #6 from jc sl <jcsl@eresmas.com> 2013-12-14 20:07:00 UTC --- Hi. I think I've found a workaround. * Install xfce4-settings * Run lxsession-edit and enable Xfsettingsd, accept and close the application * Open /home/your-user/.config/autostart/Xfsettingsd and replace Exec=xfsettingsd with Exec=xfsettingsd --replace * Reboot and Adwaita should be the selected theme. If you want to change the theme use xfce4-appearance-settings. In my tests PCManFM only reacts to changes if the selected theme has the gtk3-engine version version (I've only tried with Adwaita and oxygen). The file that must be edited is /home/your-user/.config/autostart/xfsettingsd.desktop. Xfsettingsd is the name that shows PCManFM because it looks inside the file. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841542 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841542#c8 --- Comment #8 from jc sl <jcsl@eresmas.com> 2014-01-14 19:00:19 UTC --- Hi. I think I've found the solution. Adding --enable-dbus to the configure options LXAppearance works as intended. I've created a repository with the fixed package here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jcsl:/LXDE/openSUSE_13.1/ That repository also contains and updated version of LXAppearance and other LXDE apps. There are still some issues. PCManFM, and perhaps other apps too, doesn't react to theme changes if they are not GTK-3 themes. I think that it is because It is compiled passing --with-gtk3 to the configure, but I don't really know, I'm not a packager.
