[Bug 671623] New: [Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x (rev02)] black screen/lockup after installation
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671623 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671623#c0 Summary: [Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x (rev02)] black screen/lockup after installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mrmazda@earthlink.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=413755) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=413755) y2logs created manually by booting 11.3 Dell Inspiron 5000e install over NFS from 1056 DVD iso No help from nomodeset, failsafe, various incarnations of vga= or not on cmdline, or single. I remove quiet and set splash=verbose on cmdline, and get past NIC configuration each time on framebuffer tty1, then the screen goes black, likely when YaST tries to do initial configs, and shortly after all is quiet, with no respose to any keyboard input. I chrooted from 11.3 to zypper dup from Factory repos, but it didn't help. I added /var/log/messages,boot.msg,boot.omsg,Xorg.0.l* into the attachment. Based on the Xorg.0.logs produced before upgrading to 11.3, 11.2 with failsafe cmdline thought this laptop has a Cirrus video chip. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/sndirsch:/branches:/X11:/ is deep as I can get 100 minutes later. How short is shortly?
Honestly I don't know. "osc getbinaries" already works. Please try again tomorrow. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So what did you test now?
Same Dell laptop as comment 0. Don't know what you are really after with this question. "Next" in comment 12 indicates success on try 4, so I didn't attach Xorg.0.log from that.
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/sndirsch:/branches:/X11:/XOr... is meanwhile available.
Before comment 10 I installed xorg-x11-driver-video-7.6-176.1.i586.rpm and its debug counterpart. Now I have installed the newer xorg-x11-driver-video and its debug to produce this attachment from having no xorg.conf and adding nothing to the packager's 50-monitor.conf. Again as in comment 10 IIRC, this represents startx into KDE and a display corrupted as described in comment 10. Do you ever sleep? :-) Timestamps on your comments since I filed this indicate little to none, like me. ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
