Thanks everyone, esp. for giving me a little education about ~/.xinitrc. I had originally added my xrandr lines to that file and not to .bash_profile but I could not login. Hope I did this right: I copied /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc to ~/.xinitrc and add my "xrandr" commands after where it says "# Add your own lines here ..." ;)

Should be fine, although better make use /etc/skel/.xinitrc (but in that case these are identical). Just make sure to run the commands in the background. But xrandr returns immediately anyway. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
