Trying to install 11.4RC2 in VmPlayer 3.1.1 Seems to work corrrectly but some issues with vm-tools. 1. In Dmesg : --------------- [190.800616] vmtoolsd[9264]: segfault at 0 ip b4e10ac2 sp bfd49de0 error 4 in libunity.so[b4df000+3d000] 2. Shared Folders : ---------------------- I am trying to install shared folders. Not sure how it works, but I guess vmhgfs.ko need to be loaded. When I try modprobe vmhgs, it fails : error : -1 Invalide parameters. In dmesg: vmhgfs: no symbol version for VMCIDatagram_Send ... VMCI module is loaded. 3. vmmemctl : ---------------------- Also tried /etc/init.d/vmtoolsd start in a shell : Module vmmemctl not found . Same issue. workaround : On opensuse.org get software for 11.4 : liburiparser-devel 0.7.5-17.1.i586 get and install libdnet / libdnet.sourceforge.net (i think not needed because of used params for configure...) Copy open-vm-tools-2011.02.23.tar.gz tar xvf open-vm... /configure --without-gtkmm --without-procps --without-icu --without-dnet --disable-unity; make ; make install rm /lib/modules/2.6.../updates/* depmod -a Don't know which functionnalities I lose using the --without options For a good release & compilation, some lib should may be needed. But at least I have shared folder & X resize OK... No, I haven't seen anything like that before.. sadly. As for comment #2: this is testing with a newer version of open-vm-tools.. to my info, in 11.4, we have the snapshot from Dec 2010. Additionally: there is a --disable-unity. Additionally: there is a --disable-unity. So it would be really weird if the crash in libunity.so from comment #0 would happen in this case.

In comment #2 I just say that I managed to make it work by downloading and installing a new version (feb 2011).
