This is the default choice in YaST. comment#10: I missed the /var/log/cups/error_log. Stop cupsd for clean removing of old logfiles: /etc/init.d/cups stop Cleanup old logfiles: rm /var/log/cups/error* Start cupsd: /etc/init.d/cups start do some printing: lp /etc/issue and attache again the logfiles, please. comment#11: the actions were only partly helpful, as you selected them. Some actions with important information were missing. comment#12: No, bug #222552 is not related here. A reboot is not necessary here. Please note that "/usr/lib64/cups/filter/foomatic-rip" is a link to "/usr/bin/foomatic-rip", and it's the later where the x-bits have to be set. - or, if x-bits are present, please try out and start it from command line. Suspicion might raises then, that perl modules are missing. --> please check, modify and report back. --> NEEDINFO. The related error message is: Filter "foomatic-rip" [...] not available: No such file or directory Regarding error message: cupsdAuthorize: No authentication data provided. I'll not going to work on this error. This is a configuration issue, which is a result of your configuration modifications, and not a bug. I'll ignore that one. I noticed, that backend "hp" is used now. But according to comment#9, a "usb" is at your site configured. As it happens the 3rd time now: next time, when you do this again, I'm going to close this bugzilla entry with INVALID. Cause is, that this bugzilla entry turns out to be a configuration error and NOT a bug in printing system. It's good will that I'm continuing to debug your broken configuration, but not scope of the bugzilla. I re-install it because the link of /usr/lib64/... did not exist. After the re-installation, I removed printer from Yast and started the procedure from scratch (again). I have created screenshots from the Yast procedure. I used the hpijs (recommended) driver. Created the logs and configuration tar for that. Nothing happen. I changed driver to cdj970. The same error again. Attached the confs and the logs. A font name "marlett.tff" is missing: D [31/Jul/2008:00:07:42 +0300] [Job 44] /usr/local/share/fonts/marlett.ttf 0 Usually standard fonts are in your system, special fonts are included in the file itself (how this is done, depends on the program, which generates the printjob). If you're familiar with installation fonts under Linux, you can install and announce the fonts proper in your system too. But this is the unusual case. Regarding "hpijs" configuration: 1. Your configured device URI is invalid. You can see the problem in yast_screenshot #5 too: You can read "usb:", whereas hpijs uses "hp:" as backend and a valid printer name and model name too. Yes, we should close it here, with INVALID. Please note that openSUSE Linux don't have any /etc/fonts/Fontmap in the system. /etc/ghostscript/8.62/Fontmap is the only "Fontmap" file, which comes along with openSUSE packages. If you're lucky, you can identify the culprit via "rpm -qf /etc/fonts/Fontmap".
