[Bug 651947] New: Kernel 2.6.36-90 brings up error messages on a stable system (Athlon MP 2600+ / dual CPU on Tyan MoBo)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=651947 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=651947#c0 Summary: Kernel 2.6.36-90 brings up error messages on a stable system (Athlon MP 2600+ / dual CPU on Tyan MoBo) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-0.7.1 Firefox/3.6.12 My system is running rock solid since years. I just upgraded to 2.6.36-90 for testing purposes and run into the following messages: [132000.000054] [Hardware Error]: No human readable MCE decoding support on this CPU type. [132000.000070] [Hardware Error]: Run the message through 'mcelog --ascii' to decode. [132000.000074] Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint [132000.000078] [Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged after I found that mcelog is only distributed for 64bit systems (?) I compiled and installed it anyway, but would require support from someone to further decode what is going on here. dmesg | grep rror > dmesgout gives me the following (except "Disabling lock"): ************************************************************************ [ 0.153478] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153487] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.COM1._STA] (Node f70384d0), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153522] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153529] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.COM1._STA] (Node f70384d0), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153599] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153606] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.COM2._STA] (Node f70383b0), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153638] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153644] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.COM2._STA] (Node f70383b0), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153714] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153720] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.LPT_._STA] (Node f7038d70), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153904] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.153910] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.LPT_._STA] (Node f7038d70), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.165703] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.165711] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.COM1._STA] (Node f70384d0), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.166181] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.166188] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.COM2._STA] (Node f70383b0), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.166628] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.166635] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.LPT_._STA] (Node f7038d70), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 0.209502] pci 0000:00:00.0: BIOS failed to enable PCI standards compliance; fixing this error [ 50.211633] PM: Error -22 checking image file [ 53.311667] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 53.311680] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.COM1._STA] (Node f70384d0), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 53.311718] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 53.311724] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.COM2._STA] (Node f70383b0), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 53.311927] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [Z00Q] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND [ 53.311934] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIO_.LPT_._STA] (Node f7038d70), AE_NOT_FOUND [ 82.092040] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 [ 82.128058] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 [132000.000054] [Hardware Error]: No human readable MCE decoding support on this CPU type. Boot 2.6.36-90 2. wait ... 3. get message and feel unhappy ;-) Actual Results: see above Expected Results: no error message or at least a hint what can be done to debug further. The machine has been up and running 7x24 for years now (and still is when going back to 2.6.34 ....) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
