[Bug 517351] New: sound stutters after every restart
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=517351 Summary: sound stutters after every restart Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: pro.rammstein@googlemail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060200 SUSE/3.0.11-0.1.1 Firefox/3.0.11 After every restart stutters the sound of each media (DVD, MP3, OGG, ...). I tried already http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/multimedia/400119-check-your-multime... but it doesn't report any error. When I use alsaconf in the terminal the problem is solved, so my hardware is quick enough but after every restart it's here again. Please ask me for the information you need. the tail output is the same:
Jul 6 09:57:43 linux-ibjt pulseaudio[3989]: module-alsa-sink.c: ALSA woke us up to write new data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write! Most likely this is an ALSA driver bug. Please report this issue to the PulseAudio developers.
The message should differ in the beginning. tsched=0 changes the running mode of PA not to use the timer-based scheduling. The default behavior is pretty unstable on the hardwares that don't report the proper DMA position accurately. tsched=0 is often a workaround (e.g. Ubuntu sets this as default). This is fine as long as pulseaudio itself is removed. So, this is a typical issue with PA. And, unfortunately, it's too late to fix this for 11.1, if even PA 0.9.14 doesn't work... Disabling PA is the easiest option, indeed. Yes, this should have been working better, but PA is new and rapidly developed, and little tested. Maybe we'll have an option on 11.2 to skip PA more gracefully as a fallback. But, for this particular bug report, I'd like to close now. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
