https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731573 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731573#c0 Summary: [openSUSE 12.1] Brightness Control Erratic behaviour Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: veehexx@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 this issue is new in 12.1, and was not present on 11.x releases. when i adjust brightness via the keyboard, the brightness level is eratic and will usually return to it's initial brightness level, although will eventually stick at the new value. It takes around 5 attempts to bring the brightness down to a lower setting. this appears to only be a problem when reducing brightness. increasing brightness via keyboard, KDE brightness (battery icon in lower right corner), power plan or 'x' appears to work perfectly. XEV brightness down: KeyRelease event, serial 38, synthetic NO, window 0x5800001, root 0xac, subw 0x0, time 16583423, (847,443), root:(849,466), state 0x0, keycode 232 (keysym 0x1008ff03, XF86MonBrightnessDown), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False XEV Brightness up: KeyRelease event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x5800001, root 0xac, subw 0x0, time 16717865, (924,258), root:(926,281), state 0x0, keycode 233 (keysym 0x1008ff02, XF86MonBrightnessUp), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False currently, i'm running openSUSE 12.1 x86_64 DVD ISO release (no updates), with KDE. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. have brightness higher than lowest setting 2. use keyboard keys to reduce brightness Actual Results: brightness setting changes briefly, but will return to it's original brightness. Expected Results: brightness should stay on the adjusted brightness level. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
